Mr. Shaker, the visionary behind the Shaker International Angel’s Birthday Gift Program, shared a deeply personal and moving account that inspired the creation of this initiative. He reflects: ‘’I was born into a well-to-do family with a strong financial background, but I never experienced a true birthday celebration. As I grew older, I found the joy of giving, without expectation of receiving. Probably it was because I felt that I no longer mattered. Reflecting on my past, I see that I bought hundreds of gifts each year for others but never received or expected any in return, and this brought me happiness. This sentiment grew stronger when I witnessed teens around the world whose families couldn’t afford even one set of new clothes each year, especially those who had lost one or both parents.

The inspiration behind the Shaker International Angel’s Birthday Gift Program stems from a story I encountered five or six years ago that profoundly affected me and still haunts me to this day. A 12-year-old village girl took her own life because her parents couldn’t afford to buy her a new set of clothes for her birthday. This event ironically occurred in one of the wealthiest nations on Earth, in Iran. I wept for months and was determined to start a charity in Iran to prevent such tragedies, but the country was not open to accepting external help or moving in that direction.’’

We believe Bangladesh will be accepting our help. The Shaker IABGP will provide a cash gift of $10 (approximately 1000 BDT) to children in need, starting in Bangladesh in 2024 and with aspirations for international expansion Beginning September 2024, the program will support 10 recipients monthly, with a gradual increase by 2 new beneficiaries per month starting January 2025. This approach aims to broaden the program’s impact and bring financial relief to more children over time.

Characteristics of Shaker IABGP:

2. A total of 10 people per month can receive the benefits of the program.
3. Students with single or no parents are qualified to avail of this program
4. Must be a Bangladeshi citizen
